Production Technology at Ahresty

Achieving consistent high-quality production globally

Aluminum die cast products are expected to see an increase in global demand, in responding to the need to produce more lightweight automobiles and respond to fuel efficiency regulations. Ahresty sets benchmarks for creating superior factories in terms of quality, productivity and maintenance, and has unified the systems in place at all of its global production facilities, in North America, Asia and Japan. These efforts have enabled Ahresty to offer its products from all of its production facilities worldwide, with the same consistently high levels of quality and productivity.

Ahresty has over 100 large-scale casting machines, located both in Japan and overseas. In order to provide consistent quality in large-scale, high-difficulty products we leverage the combined MONOZUKURI capabilities of the Ahresty Group from the preparatory stages of production to initiate process design, and set casting conditions based on our extensive accumulated data and know-how. We thoroughly implement our concept of sending only good quality items on to the next process stage, and work to further improve quality and productivity.

Ahresty has machining centers located at its various facilities both in Japan and overseas, enabling seamless production up to the end of the post-processing (machining) stage. By integrating both the casting and machining processes, we carry out simultaneous production and endeavor to reduce inventory and shorten overall manufacturing process times. Using our extensive machining skills and know-how accumulated over a period of more than 50 years in the industry, we control factory conditions to ensure good quality outputs from machining (including inspections and maintenance of machining equipment, jigs and cutting tools) and aim to achieve a high level of productivity in our machining processes.

By equipping our production facilities with sophisticated chemical analyzers, molten metal purification systems and other industry-leading quality assurance equipment, we are constantly endeavoring to offer higher quality and improve productivity. We produce around 40 different types of metal ingot, including aluminum alloys for a range of uses, from die casting to specialist applications. Utilizing our extensive knowledge of the characteristic properties of our raw materials (such as strength and durability), we are able to propose optimal materials to match specific applications.

Jet Cool System

Using equipment that controls the cooling of parts of the mold that are susceptible to galling, shrinkage cavities and pressure leakage during the casting process, we are able to cool these parts intermittently by injecting water at high pressure through the mold’s narrow core pin. (Ahresty has obtained an international patent for this technology.) This method has several advantages in that it (1) can be used even in regions with poor water environments, (2) can prevent problems due to entry of dirt and other contaminants, (3) reduces rusting and scaling, and (4) is environmentally friendly as it produces little wastewater (since water used in the process is continuously circulated and recycled).
